Shark’s and Founder’s QnA

Namita: How did you reach here? Tell me a little about your journey.
I studied at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, PEC University of Technology and graduated in 2011 from IT stream. My first corporate job was with Google where I worked for 3 years and then in December 2019 I officially joined Cloud Works full time.

Namita: Can you tell me in a very simple way, as a lemon, exactly how will I benefit from it?
Take one of your factories. First we will convert your entire factory into a 3D model which you can use to see what is happening with your entire factory from different devices. In this view you will see that the bottom side of my building is consuming more energy than the top side because we have created mapping of energy and CO2 in it. You can also go inside the building and see which machines are consuming energy. If you decide to turn off two robotic arms, you simply select them and turn off the power from here, and the robotic arm is physically turned off there as well. This entire process where you got insight and took action happens in 5 minutes.

Anupam: You have software but that software will work only when there are sensors and robotic arms which is hardware. So what is my total cost and what is its value against that?
We are talking about 100 machines, sensors come in $20 each, so $2000 tops for hardware. The software cost depends on factory size, ranging from $5000 per month to $100 per month as a recurring license fee.

Aman: You have done something in virtual store after that, you can completely explore products, select any product and visualize it, and click buy to redirect to website?
It is not virtual, it is a 3D store. All e-commerce stores are virtual but this is different. The software with which these applications were made is the product. This is the no-code framework we created which gives you complete 3D capabilities.

Vineeta: What is no code?
No code means you don’t need to write any coding, you don’t even need to know coding. Just like you create PowerPoint presentations with drag and drop, similarly you can create entire applications with drag and drop.

Anupam: What is your innovation? Please explain in technical terms.
You can understand the technical layers like this. First layer is hardware layer where we have evolved protocols like MQTT, HTTP, XA and CoAP which you can directly plug in so IoT sensors can start talking. Second step is what we are doing with this network and data using 3D. If you have 3D and IoT data, we provide ETL extract, transform, load pipeline in no-code way. We innovated in the Web GL layer, combining no-code plus IoT plus 3D. This is backed by a US patent granted in 2019 valid till 2035.

Anupam: Whatever has been told till now is ready-made and found easily, so technically I have not been able to find innovation yet. Are you not showing off?
I am not showing off. I know what the whole team is saying and I know that conceptually I have to explain which code is there and which line I put. That is very long to explain. The innovation is in making these complex technologies accessible through no-code interface.

Anupam: Why do you consider your platform superior when Unity, Unreal, Microsoft are already there?
I am not competing with agencies who give quotes of 2-4 lakhs for complete development. My point is that your own team employee should be able to build using this software without needing an agency. I want to make this product so simple that your no-code framework literally feels like making a presentation.

Anupam: Tell me about sales.
Since January 2021, we have blocked a revenue of 1.45 crore for this particular product. Last month we did 14 lakhs. Month on month growth for past three months shows April had 11 lakhs.

Anupam: Have you raised any money yet?
I raised a seed round in May 2020 of 71 lakhs through Fad Networks, Lets Ventures and a couple of others.

Anupam: What is your current round?
My current round is a convertible debt round where we are raising 1 crore with a valuation cap of 12.18 crores.

Namita: My decision is made. I think you need international B2B because India MSME will not pay for licenses, they do jugaad. Internationally people pay. Second is staying abreast with technology updation constantly. I don’t think I can help you much in these two things so I am out.
Thank you for your feedback.

Aman: You seem good, quite young, filed patent at this young age which is rare. But I am very technology oriented and I did not understand the innovation. Second I did not understand if software is service or product license. It doesn’t feel like service where people download themselves. I am out for today but my feedback is if you know metaverse, today put team members in consumer metaverse, there is huge opportunity there. Don’t ignore consumer.
Thank you for the feedback.

Anupam: I and Namita would like to give you an offer but two conditions. One, I have strong technology team with 6 people who will do proper due diligence. Second condition is we will evaluate the use case. We will offer you 40 lakhs at 5%.
My current convertible debt round is already running. Based on that round we have put a valuation cap of 12.18 crores. If you want to give me a counter offer, I cannot go below 12.18 because that will trigger anti-dilution clause with previous investors. How much are you raising? 1 crore convertible debt.

Anupam: You can close ours first then do theirs.
Their money is already in the bank. 12.18 crores is what percentage? 3.2%.

Anupam: My counter offer is 40 lakhs at 3.2%.
Done. Let’s do it.

Cloud Worx Post-Show Update

Following the Shark Tank India appearance, Cloud Worx continued developing its no-code platform while completing the due diligence process with Namita and Anupam. The company maintained its dual focus on enterprise digital twins and consumer metaverse applications. With the secured funding, Cloud Worx expanded its technical team to enhance the Web GL layer innovation and improve platform accessibility for non-technical users.

Business Analysis & Lessons

The Cloud Worx pitch demonstrates several critical lessons for B2B SaaS entrepreneurs. First, the importance of clear communication regarding technical differentiation became apparent when Sharks questioned the innovation level versus existing platforms like Unity and Microsoft. Yuvraj’s challenge in explaining the Web GL layer innovation highlights how technical founders must translate complex technology into tangible business value.

Second, the pitch revealed strategic insights about market selection. Namita’s observation about Indian MSMEs versus international clients proved accurate, as the company acknowledged converting international clients more easily. This validates the common B2B SaaS wisdom that Indian enterprises often resist software licensing fees while Western markets readily adopt them.

  • Technical founders must simplify innovation narratives for investor understanding
  • Patent protection provides significant valuation leverage in investor negotiations
  • International B2B markets often demonstrate higher willingness to pay than domestic MSMEs
  • Convertible notes require careful structuring to avoid anti-dilution conflicts

Pitch Conclusion

Cloud Worx Shark Tank India journey illustrates the evolving landscape of Indian enterprise technology. By securing backing from Namita and Anupam, the company validated its no-code metaverse platform’s potential despite initial skepticism about technical differentiation. The deal structure accommodating the convertible note demonstrated sophisticated financial planning by the founder.

For entrepreneurs watching this pitch, the key takeaway involves balancing technical innovation with accessible communication. While Cloud Worx possessed genuine IP through its US patent, the founder initially struggled to convey this advantage clearly. Ultimately, the combination of demonstrated revenue traction, patent protection, and massive market opportunity convinced two experienced Sharks to invest at a premium valuation.
