Cool The Globe Shark Tank India: ₹25 Lakh Deal for Climate Action App

Pitch Introduction

Cool The Globe Shark Tank India featured one of the most passionate environmental pitches of Season 3, presented by founder Prachi Shevgaonkar. The mission of this startup is to empower every individual and business to take measurable action against climate change. By gamifying sustainability, the app provides a tangible way for people to see how their daily choices—like opting for a train over a car or skipping meat—impact the planet. Prachi’s journey began with a childhood letter and evolved into a global platform with users in over 110 countries, catching the attention of the sharks through her infectious energy and clear vision for a greener future.

Business Overview

Cool The Globe is a technology-driven platform designed to simplify climate action. While many people want to help the environment, they often struggle with knowing where to start or how much of a difference their actions actually make. This app solves that problem by calculating the specific amount of carbon emissions saved for every eco-friendly action taken. It bridges the gap between global climate goals and individual daily habits, making sustainability accessible to the common man.

The business is currently expanding from a B2C model to a B2B SaaS model. Organizations are increasingly looking for ways to engage employees in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. Cool The Globe provides a corporate dashboard where companies can track the collective carbon savings of their workforce, fostering a culture of sustainability while meeting corporate responsibility targets. This transition into the corporate space marks a significant step toward profitability and large-scale impact.

Product Details

The core product is a mobile application available on both iOS and Android. It features a library of over 100 micro-actions that users can log to track their “carbon handprint.” The app uses complex algorithms to calculate CO2 savings based on regional data and user behavior. For instance, if a user in Pune decides to bicycle to work instead of driving, the app records the exact kilograms of carbon avoided. The corporate version includes a gamified leaderboard, monthly targets for employees, and comprehensive reporting tools for HR and sustainability officers.

Market Position

Cool The Globe occupies a unique niche in the climate tech space by focusing on behavioral change rather than just industrial hardware. While most carbon tracking software is geared toward high-level industrial emissions, Prachi’s app targets the human element of the supply chain. Its competitive advantage lies in its user-friendly interface and the fact that it is already utilized by a global community. By securing MoUs with major organizations before even launching the full enterprise version, the company has demonstrated strong market pull for employee engagement tools in the sustainability sector.

About Founder’s

Prachi Shevgaonkar is an ecopreneur from Pune who has dedicated her early career to climate action. Her journey was sparked by a letter she wrote to herself at age 9, which was returned to her by a teacher ten years later. According to her LinkedIn profile, she took a gap year at 18 to travel across India, meeting farmers and sanitation workers to understand the ground realities of climate change. This experience led her to realize that climate change isn’t just a future threat but a present crisis affecting the most vulnerable populations.

  • Youngest advisor to the Climate Leadership Coalition in Europe.
  • Selected as one of three youth delegates to represent India at COP27.
  • Formerly a climate change advisor for Tata Power.
  • Recognized for her work in aligning the app with UN Sustainable Development Goal 13.

Shark’s and Founder’s QnA

What was your personal trigger moment for starting this?
I took a gap year to work in high-impact areas. I met a 12-year-old boy in a slum near Pune who wished that his house wouldn’t get filled with water again due to floods. That’s when I realized that climate change is affecting the basic need for shelter today. I decided I couldn’t just ignore it anymore.

What does your family do? You seem very well-raised.
My dad is a teacher and he now works with me full-time. I gave the same pitch to my parents to convince them, and now I am my dad’s boss! My mom and sister are both engineers, so I am the only non-engineer in the family, and I plan to employ them all.

How does the app actually calculate savings?
We have over 100 ways to be eco-friendly. For example, if you take the train instead of a car, the app calculates the weight of carbon emissions saved. Today, I came by train and saved 35 kg of CO2, which is almost equal to my weight. We use standard emission factors to provide these real-time calculations.

What is the business model since the app is currently free?
We are launching an organizational version where companies can take an annual subscription for their employees. We are looking at a price point of around ₹3,000 per employee annually. We also have a model for carbon offsetting projects where users can purchase offsets for emissions they cannot reduce.

How do you prevent people from manipulating or lying about their actions?
We removed recurring actions that were too easy to fake. We have an anomaly detection system. If someone logs a behavior that isn’t consistent with their location or past patterns, we get a notification and can remove that data. We focus on daily engagement and nudging to build genuine habits.

You are pre-revenue, but do you have any interest from companies?
Yes, we currently have seven MoUs with large organizations—four in India and three internationally. These companies have expressed that they want to use this for their employee engagement and ESG reporting, and they are waiting for our enterprise version to be ready.

    Business Potential and TAM

The Total Addressable Market (TAM) for climate technology and sustainability software is expanding at an unprecedented rate. Globally, the carbon footprint management market was valued at approximately $10 Billion in 2023 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 20% through 2030. This growth is driven by tightening government regulations, net-zero commitments by Fortune 500 companies, and a massive shift in consumer sentiment toward eco-conscious living. In India alone, the push for ESG compliance among the top 1,000 listed companies creates a multi-crore opportunity for specialized engagement tools like Cool The Globe.

    Market Size Analysis

The Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) focuses on corporate employee engagement. With India’s workforce in the formal sector exceeding 100 million people, even a 1% penetration rate at ₹3,000 per employee represents a ₹300 Crore annual revenue opportunity. As organizations move beyond simple carbon accounting toward active “carbon handprint” cultivation, the demand for platforms that provide verified behavioral data will skyrocket. Cool The Globe is well-positioned to capture the early-mover advantage in the Indian sustainability SaaS sector.

    Growth Opportunities

    • Integration with HRMS platforms like Darwinbox or Workday for seamless corporate rollout.
    • Monetizing the carbon offset marketplace by charging a commission on every tree planted or solar credit purchased.
    • Expanding into schools and universities through “Green Campus” subscriptions to target the Gen-Z demographic.
    • Utilizing data analytics to provide companies with insights into employee lifestyle trends for better ESG reporting.

    Marketing and Distribution Strategy

Cool The Globe has primarily grown through organic word-of-mouth and the founder’s advocacy at global climate forums. By positioning Prachi as a thought leader in the sustainability space, the brand has achieved international reach without a traditional marketing budget. This high-trust, mission-driven approach is critical in an industry often plagued by “greenwashing” concerns.

    Customer Acquisition

The B2C acquisition is driven by app store optimization and social media virality. However, the B2B acquisition strategy relies on direct sales and partnerships with ESG consultants. The Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) for individuals is currently near zero, while the B2B CAC is expected to be managed through high-value MoUs and corporate pilots. Utilizing LinkedIn as a primary lead generation tool has allowed the startup to reach sustainability officers at major Indian conglomerates.

    Distribution Channels

    • Global App Stores (Apple App Store and Google Play) for individual users.
    • Direct Sales Force for large-scale enterprise subscriptions in India and Europe.
    • Channel partnerships with Environmental Consulting firms.
    • Educational partnerships with universities for student engagement programs.

    Social Media and Content Strategy

Prachi Shevgaonkar maintains a strong presence on Instagram and LinkedIn, sharing climate tips and updates on the app’s global impact. The content strategy revolves around “Climate Positivity,” focusing on what can be done rather than just the doom-and-gloom aspects of environmental news. This approach has led to collaborations with various climate influencers and international delegates.

Cool The Globe Shark Tank Deal Outcome

The pitch concluded with a successful deal for Cool The Globe. While Anupam Mittal and Ritesh Agarwal were impressed but chose to stay out due to the early stage and “behavioral change” risks, two sharks saw the immense potential. Radhika Gupta and Aman Gupta teamed up to provide the capital and strategic guidance needed to build the corporate version of the app.

    SharkOffer Detail
Aman Gupta₹12.5 Lakhs for 4% Equity
Radhika Gupta₹12.5 Lakhs for 4% Equity
Anupam MittalOut – Early stage, doubted market fit

Final DecisionAccepted ₹25 Lakhs for 8% Equity

    Cool The Globe Post-Show Update

Since the appearance on Shark Tank India Season 3, Cool The Globe has seen a surge in visibility. The “Gupta & Gupta” duo has been actively involved in refining the B2B strategy. According to The Indian Express, the episode highlighted the growing importance of ecopreneurs in the Indian startup ecosystem. Prachi has continued her advocacy, speaking at various national forums about the role of technology in climate action. Verified post-show revenue figures for the B2B launch are not yet available, but the app continues to grow its user base organically across the globe.

    Business Analysis & Lessons

The Cool The Globe pitch serves as a significant instance of how personal conviction can drive a business model. While many investors shy away from “social good” apps due to monetization challenges, Prachi’s pivot toward B2B SaaS showed a mature understanding of where the capital for sustainability actually resides. The challenge remains in maintaining high user engagement levels—sustainability apps often suffer from high churn once the initial novelty wears off. However, by tying the app into corporate performance and ESG reporting, the startup creates a “stickier” product.

Entrepreneurs can learn a lot from Prachi’s focus on organic growth and credibility. Before asking for investment, she built a global user base and secured MoUs from major corporations, proving that there is a demand for her solution. Her ability to explain complex climate data in simple terms—like carbon weight compared to human weight—is a lesson in effective communication for any founder in a technical or niche industry.

    Key Takeaways

    • Lesson 1: Social impact needs a commercial anchor. Moving from a free app to a B2B subscription model is essential for long-term survival.
    • Lesson 2: Trust is the ultimate currency in green tech. Having a founder with delegate status at COP27 provides unmatched credibility.
    • Lesson 3: Micro-actions drive macro-change. Gamifying small daily habits (like skipping chicken) can aggregate into massive data points for carbon tracking.
    • Lesson 4: Validation before investment. Having seven MoUs in hand allowed the founder to negotiate with the sharks from a position of strength despite having zero current revenue.

    Pitch Conclusion

Cool The Globe is a testament to how technology can be used to tackle the planet’s biggest problems. By securing a deal with Aman Gupta and Radhika Gupta, Prachi Shevgaonkar has gained the mentorship needed to turn a passionate project into a scalable global business.
