Shark’s and Founder’s QnA
How many years have you been doing this and what are your sales?
I started Midway through 2020. My overall sales are 2.2 million. I did 22,000 in the first 6 months of my business. 2021 I did 484,000. 2022 I did a million and I’m expecting to do 1.5 million this year.
How does the model work? What do you charge?
My primary course is my dating master class. I sell this for $1,295. It is an online course, it is pre-recorded and it allows the man to watch it and go at his own pace. It includes small amount of one-on-one interaction. They get a profile makeover for example.
Is this just you? Do you have staff?
I’m the only full-time employee. I have some contract help.
Why are you not doing this for women?
When I got into it I wasn’t totally sure I wanted to work with just men but from a marketing perspective I realized very quickly I needed to narrow who I was speaking to.
What makes you the expert of Love?
I love love. Ever since I was a kid I was so interested in relationships even on the playground, who’s going out with who, who likes who. I didn’t see a career in that. I was working in the travel industry and then the pandemic hit and basically overnight I went from employed to unemployed.
Is anyone knocking you off? There are competitors?
There are competitors and there are other dating coaches but I am the leader in this space.
A dating coach is probably not really a scalable business versus if you could turn this into a scalable product?
Correct, my courses are absolutely scalable. I have my texting course which is 149.
How many of those have you sold at 149?
I’m not sure actually my exact numbers on that one.
What are your margins?
Last year in profit I had just under 500k but I had some very big one-time expenses last year that won’t be reoccurring.
Blaine why do you need a shark?
The vision I have for my business is having a shark that the kind of men I work with look up to. They think wow he has the type of life he has a family he has a successful business or she. It could be a she but what I think could be really valuable is having a guy say it’s okay that you need help dating.

Dating By Blaine Post-Show Update
Despite the successful negotiation on Shark Tank, Blaine Anderson ultimately decided not to close the deal with Mark Cuban. After spending tens of thousands on legal fees and months of focus due diligence, she realized that having an outside investor would make her business operations more complicated. Blaine has continued to grow Dating By Blaine independently, maintaining her position as a leader in the dating coaching space for men. She has spoken positively about her experience with Mark Cuban and the Shark Tank process, noting that Cuban was down-to-earth and easy to work with, but the partnership simply wasn’t the right fit for her business at that time.
Business Analysis & Lessons

Blaine’s strong sales figures and clear business model demonstrated the importance of having a proven concept before seeking investment. However, her difficulty breaking down specific revenue metrics highlighted the need for founders to have detailed financial knowledge at their fingertips. The significant difference between her initial valuation and the final deal terms underscores the gap that often exists between founder expectations and investor assessments of value.

- Post-show deal closure is not guaranteed even after on-air agreement
Pitch Conclusion
Dating By Blaine’s Shark Tank journey exemplifies both the opportunities and challenges of seeking investment on national television. While Blaine Anderson successfully demonstrated a viable business model with impressive growth, the negotiation process revealed the importance of being prepared with detailed financial data and having realistic valuation expectations. Although the deal with Mark Cuban ultimately wasn’t finalized, the Shark Tank exposure provided significant visibility for Dating By Blaine, likely contributing to its continued growth in the competitive dating coaching market. For entrepreneurs considering similar paths, Blaine’s experience underscores the value of understanding exactly what you want from an investor partnership and being prepared to walk away if the terms don’t align with your business vision.
