Tickle Your Art Shark Tank India: ₹21.3 Lakh Deal for Inclusive Art Brand

Pitch Introduction

The Tickle Your Art Shark Tank India pitch stands as one of the most emotional and impactful moments in the history of the show. Founded by Shweta Ranka, along with her daughters Dhriti and Ira, the business is a Pune-based social enterprise that transforms the vibrant artworks of individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities into commercial lifestyle products. During the Season 4 finale, the founders presented a vision where art serves not just as a medium of expression, but as a path to financial independence and societal inclusion for the neurodivergent community.

Business Overview

Tickle Your Art is a purpose-driven brand that bridges the gap between creativity and commerce. The company collaborates with artists who have intellectual disabilities, utilizing their unique perspectives to design a wide array of products, including stationery, jewelry, tableware, and apparel. By commercializing these designs, the brand provides a sustainable income stream for the artists while raising massive awareness about Down syndrome and neurodiversity across India.

What began as a passion project during the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved into a structured business model focused on B2B corporate gifting and direct-to-consumer sales. The brand operates with high gross margins of 50% and has successfully fulfilled over 10,000 orders, proving that social impact and profitability can coexist. Their “Art Lab” initiative further expands this mission by providing entrepreneurship training to new artists, ensuring the model is scalable and systemic.

Product Details

The product catalog of Tickle Your Art is diverse, featuring items where every design tells a specific story. Notable products include their Kind Eye pendants, which provide a positive spin on the traditional ‘evil eye’ concept, and their black-paper sketchbooks designed to make lighter colors like white and yellow pop. Their stationery line, which contributes to 60% of total revenue, includes organizers, notebooks, and greeting cards. Other offerings include salt and pepper shakers derived from Dhriti’s eye paintings and various apparel items featuring rainbow motifs and inclusive symbols.

Market Position

Tickle Your Art occupies a unique niche in the social entrepreneurship and premium gifting market. Unlike traditional NGOs, it operates as a for-profit entity that focuses on design excellence rather than just charity. Their competitive advantage lies in the authentic storytelling attached to each SKU. In a market crowded with mass-produced items, their products offer emotional value and a sense of contribution to a social cause, making them highly attractive for corporate CSR gifting and conscious individual consumers in cities like Pune and Mumbai.

About Founder’s

The driving force behind the brand is Shweta Ranka, an architect by profession who integrated her design background into her parenting journey. After her daughter Dhriti was born with Down syndrome, Shweta discovered that art was the most effective communication tool for her daughter, who only began speaking at age five. According to a profile in The Times of India, Dhriti is a teenager who has overcome congenital heart conditions to become a celebrated artist. Shweta’s younger daughter, Ira, serves as a co-presenter and the brand’s biggest supporter, representing the sibling’s role in inclusive families.

  • Shweta Ranka is a professional architect from Maharashtra.
  • Dhriti Ranka started expressing herself through art before verbal communication.
  • The brand name “Tickle” comes from Dhriti’s childhood nickname.
  • The founders are active members of the Down Syndrome Federation of India.

Shark’s and Founder’s QnA

What is the significance of your ask amount of ₹21.3 Lakhs?
The number 21.3 is very special to us because World Down Syndrome Day is observed on 21st March (21/3). This is because Down syndrome is caused by an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. We wanted our valuation to reflect the cause we represent.

Why did you name the brand Tickle Your Art?
When Dhriti was a newborn, she was very stressed and wouldn’t wake up easily. Nurses sometimes had to be a bit rough to wake her, which hurt us. We discovered that if we tickled her feet, she would wake up happily. Since then, her nickname has been Tickle, and we want our art to bring that same joy to others.

What are your current sales figures?
In the last 9 months of this financial year, we have achieved a revenue of ₹20 Lakhs. This is a 2x growth compared to our previous year’s total sales of ₹10 Lakhs. We have been profitable since the very first day of operations.

How do you acquire the artwork for your products?
I am a core committee member of the Down Syndrome Federation of India, so I know many parents across the country. We currently work with eight artists. I handle the design conversion, taking their raw art and figuring out which product it suits best—whether it’s a salt shaker or a notebook.

What is your primary sales channel right now?
Most of our revenue comes through B2B corporate gifting. We also sell through our website and participate in exhibitions, though exhibitions are mainly used for brand awareness rather than volume sales.

What was your experience with Dhriti’s schooling?
It was challenging. We had to change four schools because many were not truly inclusive; they would make her sit in a separate class. Now, she is finally in a school that truly understands and implements an inclusive setup, where she is thriving.

    Marketing and Distribution Strategy

The company relies heavily on organic storytelling and word-of-mouth within the neurodivergent community. Their strategy is to move away from the “charity” narrative and focus on the “professional artist” narrative. By positioning themselves as a design house first, they ensure that the products compete on quality and aesthetic appeal, rather than just sympathy.

    Customer Acquisition

The Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) for Tickle Your Art is exceptionally low because of the high organic reach on social media. Their videos featuring Dhriti’s creative process generate significant engagement. For the B2B segment, acquisition is handled through direct outreach to HR departments and participation in major social impact summits, where they present their portfolio of corporate gifting solutions.

    Distribution Channels

    • Direct-to-Consumer (D2C): Their official website caters to individual gift buyers.
    • B2B Partnerships: Supplying customized hampers to tech firms and large corporations in Pune.
    • Physical Studio: A newly opened art studio in Pune that serves as a shop and a training center.
    • Exhibitions: Pop-up stalls at high-end flea markets and awareness events.

    Social Media and Content Strategy

Their Instagram presence focuses on the “behind-the-scenes” of the art lab. Content includes Dhriti and other artists painting, the conversion process from paper to product, and educational reels about Down syndrome myths. This content strategy builds a community of advocates rather than just a customer base.

    Tickle Your Art Post-Show Update

According to The Indian Express, the pitch was the highlight of the Season 4 finale. Post-show, the brand has seen a massive surge in website traffic and interest from corporate giants for festive gifting. In addition to the equity deal, guest shark Jeet Adani reportedly offered a ₹20 Lakh grant to support the cause, further solidifying the company’s capital reserves for their upcoming Pune cafe project.

    Business Analysis & Lessons

The success of Tickle Your Art on Shark Tank India highlights the power of Authentic Storytelling in business. While the revenue of ₹20 Lakhs is relatively small for a typical venture capital investment, the 50% margins and the social impact component created a high “Return on Emotion” for the sharks. The founders effectively utilized symbolic pricing (₹21.3L) to align their financial request with their social mission, a masterstroke in brand alignment.

For other entrepreneurs, the lesson is clear: Constraint-driven innovation works. By using the specific limitations of their artists (e.g., preference for certain colors or difficulty with traditional school systems) as the foundation for their product designs (e.g., black books and Art Lab), they turned a social challenge into a commercial USP.

    Key Takeaways

    • Mission-Market Fit: Aligning every aspect of the business, from the valuation number to the product design, with the core mission.
    • High Profitability in Social Ventures: Proving that a 50% margin is achievable even when focusing on social good.
    • B2B Focus: Scaling a small craft-based business through corporate gifting rather than expensive retail overheads.
    • Radical Inclusion: Turning “disability” into a source of competitive creative advantage through unique artistic perspectives.

    Pitch Conclusion

Tickle Your Art is more than just a business; it is a movement that proves inclusion is not just a concept, but a reality that can be achieved through creativity. With the backing of Aman Gupta and Anupam Mittal, the brand is set to expand its footprint in the gifting industry while providing a voice to hundreds of neurodivergent artists.
